How This Scenic Rim Accommodation Was Born

She has gone on to establish herself as a competent Singer and Songwriter with one of her latest hits "Soldier" which is dedicated to all the men and women who have fought many battles over the years to help preserve our freedom.
How it all began .........
Mike and Gail Steindl chose to move to Rathdowney in December 1998 after purchasing 50 acres of land with a 'less than desirable' weatherboard home. Mike and Gail were able to picture what could be converted into a tourism venture for their retirement years. Having spent some 25 years in the Travel Industry in Beaudesert they had years of experience in knowing what people expected for value for their money in this particular field.
Late in 2004 two cottages were constructed in Boonah by Abbottsfield Country Cottages and transported by truck in the early hours of the 14th December 2004 to 115 Forest Home Road, Rathdowney. The following year was spent decorating the cottages and establishing the gardens and surrounding areas.

Now some 14 years later they have two secluded cottages for couples plus some well established gardens, spectacular scenery and forest walks down to the rocky Logan River. Take a look at the home page and the gallery.
Over time, the two farm dogs, Caddie - a stumpy-tailed blue cattle dog/kelpie cross and Suzie - a short haired border collie appear to have won the hearts of many guests. In fact, they get more accolades in the Visitors Book than Mike and Gail! As a matter of fact if any guests, who are not dog lovers when they arrive, are almost assured Suzie will have them converted before they leave! Suzie has a beautiful nature and a way of 'talking' to guests and loves to escort them on the walk to the river.
Tuckeroo Cottages & Gardens is a secluded couples retreat in the heart of the Scenic Rim with spectacular scenery and forest walks down to a rocky Logan River.
